Haven't had the problem with my optima. But i think the 18 suggests using the back side of the key fob to push the start button. (when the fob battery is dead) i think the 13 sensor. It has a weird chip on the negative post. That chip is the ignition relay switch.

When i get in the car and push the brake, you can hear the system make noise. when i push the start button it won't make the chime sound and the ready light won't. Checked all fuses and connections. Tested the battery and found the following: 14. 6 when the engine starts then drops to 12. 6 after about 15 seconds at idle. 2013 kia optima won,t start or crank over. Just replaced the starter. Old one bench checks ok solenoid works but does seem to spin a little slower than the new one. There is usually a flashing key or blinking security light that don't stop flashing even with the key in the ignition when there is a problem with the immobilizer.
